So, you’ve landed in North Cyprus for your studies—congratulations! 🎉 Before you dive into your academic adventure, there’s an important task to check off your list: applying for your student residence permit. Sounds intimidating? Don’t worry, we’ve broken it down into easy-to-follow steps. Let’s make this process as smooth and stress-free as possible!

Step 1: At the Port of Entry
When you arrive at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC):
- Show your university acceptance letter or invitation document to the immigration officer.
- They will grant you a 60-day student entry visa.
This visa gives you enough time to get settled and start the student residency permit process.
Step 2: Register at Your University 🎓
Now that you’re officially in, it’s time to head to your university! Complete your student registration procedures at your school to officially become part of the campus community.
Step 3: Register on the Online Student Permission Portal
Time to go digital! Open your browser and visit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus(TRNC) Ministry of Internal Affairs. Here’s how to get started:

First-time Student Permit Registration
- Go to Main Menu > Online İşlemler >Öğrenci İzinleri / Student Permissions or click this link to reach TRNC Student Permission Portal
- Click “Sign Up Now” and fill in your details.
- Wait for your username and password, which will be sent to you via SMS or email.

Already have an account?
- Click “Login”, enter your username and password you notified by SMS, and get started!
Step 4: Follow the System’s Instructions
Once logged in, the system will guide you through the process. There are 4 steps to be completed to get your residence permit in North Cyprus as an international student. Each step is clearly outlined in the left sidebar of the page as you can see in the picture below, so follow along carefully.

Step 5: Get Your Health Report 🏥
The next step is State Hospital which you will be required to have a health report. Here’s how to handle it:
Option 1: If You Already Have a Valid Health Report
If you’re submitting your own health report:
Required Tests: Ensure your report includes results for HCV, HIV, HBSAG, RPR, and a lung X-ray or graphy for tuberculosis.
- Reports must be less than 2 months old.
Upload Process:
- Upload the original report (PDF) to the Student Automation System.
- Visit the State Hospital near your university for approval.
Fees: Approval requires a single physician report fee. Additional tests may incur extra costs based on TRNC Ministry of Health tariffs.
Option 2: If You Don’t Have a Valid Health Report
If you don’t have your own health report, the system will provide the hospital or labaratory name that you need to go after payment of the Health Report Fee.
- Pay the laboratory test fee online which is approximately 200$.
- Go to the designated laboratory provided by the system for your tests.
Step 6: Pay the Immigration Tax
Once your health report is approved, you’ll need to pay the immigration tax via the online system. The immigration tax is approximately 20$
Step 7: Download Your Permit 🎉
When the system indicates your Student Permit is ready, it will provide you a PDF version of it for downloading.
